Free the elves!
It is interesting that the mythic symbol of our world, nature, and divinity has been reshaped into tiny forms working away endlessly in a workshop…to give gifts to “good” boys and girls…. It sounds like spell craft trickery to me!
The idea of Santa’s helpers emerged out of literature in the 1800s as various writers created new stories and traditions around Christmas. In Medieval times, the church demonized the traditional folk connections to elves, faeries, and other spirits of the lands as part of their process to remove old spiritual beliefs.
Before that, and in many cultures around the world was a sacred awareness of these mystical beings that lived just beyond our daily realm of perception. They could be tricky, but could also offer wisdom and healing. They were part of the extended spiritual social network. Some ancient tales share how they were immortal, as beautiful as the sun, and on equal levels as the Gods.
Elves as fantasy? Aye, yes they have emerged again through modern fantasy, movies, and games. There’s some deep yearning within us to be connected to them. It runs deep within us. But to say they are only fantasy is to dismiss countless centuries of deep connection, experiences, and stories around the world.
Being the Elven Wizard that I am, the Elves have been important allies in my spiritual majikal journey. For me, they are the luminous ones within the forest, the guardians of high majik, the weavers of beauty and grace. They evoke the Bible and ancient ways, withbcobbextion to the Earth.
Often they visit me on my inner journeys and walks through the forest. Many of my clients have had them appear to them during my healing sessions, lifting the fog and dismay.
I’d like to release the elves from Santa’s Workshop, and reconnect them and us back to nature.
On the 22nd I’m honored to take people on a journey to reconnect with the Realm of the Elves (aka Alfheim) in our Yule ceremony.
It’s time to reconnect with our Elven brethren, for they do bring gifts of joy, courage, creativity, play and luminosity.
